Hi, I’m Dianna Jurena

LPC/CTTS

I became a therapist after teaching voice and music lessons for 35 years. While that may sound like an abrupt career change, it was a natural transition for me. My students often wanted to discuss the issues of their lives with me and found that I was an understanding and empathetic listener who was able to help them find hope again. Teaching vocal music also helped me to understand and truly observe how much we communicate nonverbally through body language and tone, in addition to our words.

As a therapist, I work with individuals 14 and older who have experienced trauma, are struggling with anxiety, phobias, PTSD, depression, and grief. I also work with individuals who have been diagnosed with personality disorders, or mood disorders such as Bi-Polar Disorder. I am experienced and comfortable with a diversity of ages, genders, lifestyles, experiential histories, cultures, and nationalities.

If we agree to work together, you can expect a ccombination of Person-Focused Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am certified as a Trauma Treatment Specialist, as well as in Thought Field Therapy,  which is highly effective in treating trauma and other challenges. My goal is to help you learn to better manage emotions such as stress or anger and recover from divorce or other life losses. We will explore together how you want your life to be different and agree on the best way to get there.

I have an adorable partner – my therapy dog in training, Shadow. She is a “bringer of joy” and helps my clients feel more open and relaxed. She is wonderfully attuned to feelings and will sometimes sit with you as you release your feelings through words, tears, or even silence – all without judgement.
